Answer the following prompt. Support your response with specific examples and relevant quotes from the primary texts in this unit. Your post should be between 250 and 350 words to get full credit. Once you have completed your initial post, read and respond to two of your peers. Ask your classmates questions about their answers, and explain why additional quotes from their chosen text would support or contradict (gently) their interpretation or application of the text. Try to facilitate a conversation that is a genuine interaction between scholars. At least one of your responses should be on a text that you read but did NOT write about. Your replies should be thoughtful and substantive in length–no fewer than 40 words (approximately 4-5 sentences).
Prompt: Having read Davis’ “Life In the Iron Mills,” consider the impact of socioeconomic inequalities on individuals in workplaces and other professional settings you’ve encountered. Have you noticed any differences in the ways different workers are treated in jobs you’ve held or at businesses you’ve frequented? How might disparities in worker treatment impact the lives and aspirations of those workers? How is creativity or artistic expression treated in the workplace? How are these situations similar or different from Hugh Wolfe’s experience?
