Your academic essay will build off of your line of inquiry that you developed from the annotated bibliography. The essay must a have a clear, argumentative thesis (that you articulate at the end of your introductory paragraph). Remember that the best essays are those with a specific, narrow topic and thesis. Here are some possible approaches (but don’t be limited to just these):
- Independence and education
- Independence and the economy of the Bahamas
Your essay must follow MLA style and have a Works Cited page with a minimum of 6 sources. 4 of these sources need to be academic sources. As the available academic research about the Bahamas is quite limited, it is okay to include sources about other countries or communities (e.g., the Caribbean as a whole). Every body paragraph in the essay must have direct quotes from academic sources.
