The influence of religious beliefs on coping mechanisms and mental health outcomes in the face of trauma

 This is a research proposal

1) A brief empirical background for why this is an important topic (1 page)

2) A review of the existing research on the topic. This section, along with the previous section should read very much like an
introduction section to an empirical article. Your review of the literature should
be integrative. Explain the trends in the literature. DO NOT simply summarize
one study after another without integrating the findings.
3) An in-depth summary and critique of one quantitative study related to the topic.
4) A summary of the study. This summary should highlight the important parts of the study
(purpose/hypotheses, methods, results, discussion) and be written using
your own words. A critique that covers each section of the study
i. Your critique should integrate research concepts learned across the
semester, thus addressing ALL sections of the article. It would be best to
critique each section separately and use subheadings, e.g. Critique of
Introduction, Critique of Methods, etc. You might find that not every
concept we talked about for a particular section applies to your article; if
so, then it’s fine not to address that concept, unless you want to mention it
as being something the researchers should have addressed (e.g., they
didn’t report an effect size, etc.). Your critique should cover at least two
points from each section.
5) A proposal for a study on your topic a. Your study proposal is a methods section which is a detailed description of your
proposed study (so that someone else could conduct a replication). This includes
but is not limited:
i) Research Question/Hypotheses
ii) Participants and Sampling
iii) Design Statement/Procedure/Materials
iv. Measures
v. Data Analysis Plan
roposed Results Including Graphs and Tables a. Discuss what the possible outcomes of your study will be.
b. Present graphs or tables with mock data that would illustrate these patterns.
7) Discussion section: How your study addresses the problems present in the study you reviewed in the
previous section. In other words, your study proposal must address how it
addresses a research gap in the field.
