points) and a final eight-10 page magazine (70 points).So, what is it exactly is this project? You will prepare a magazine
focusing on selected topics relevant to the issue/subject of violence.
Instead of a traditional paper, this assignment provides an opportunity
for you create a portfolio of your research. You are to research and
write in a magazine format. The short articles in your magazine
project are not summaries of your research or copies of located
research articles, but three-to-four short research mini-papers, written
by you, BUT formatted to look like a magazine. You will decide how
the cover will look, the Table of Contents, the content, the
organization of the content, and the visuals. Yes, you will decide
issues of design (columns, graphics, art, and photos)• You will give your magazine an original title that is connected
to your research and overall thesis. Although you may change
it later, you should even have an original title for the outline
assignment (later explained in the syllabus) of your magazine.• Your magazine should include a Table of Contents.• Your magazine should include an Introduction explaining the
overall theme and the contents (no less than 400 words).• Your magazine should have three-to-four short researched
“articles” (examples/accounts of your theme). You are the
author of those “articles.” You are not to pull them from the
internet. You should research various stories related to your
theme and write the narrative/account. Each article should be
at minimum 600 words, but no more than 750 and at least
three sources.• Your magazine should have a conclusion (a minimum of 400
words).• Your magazine must have four questions at the end for others
to consider regarding your topic. These four questions can be
included in your conclusion.• Your magazine should have a list of references. For this class,
you will cite using Chicago Style. While you may know your
major’s citation style, for this class, you will use Chicago.• Overall, your magazine should have about 8-10 pages. You
should have at minimum of 2500 words of content.• Can you go over 10 pages? Yes. Why? The word count is
before adding any formatting, pictures, graphs, etc. To make
sure you have the minimum word count (I WILL COUNT
YOUR WORDS), type out your paper i(n
WORD/Pages/whatever writing software you use) BEFORE
formatting it or adding any graphics. This way you will meet
the minimum length without filling your pages with pictures.
Note: there is a high deduction/penalty if you are short in word/
page counts. No worries, you will not be penalized if your
articles are longer than the required number of words or you
go beyond 10 pages because of images/graphics.• Your magazine cannot be a PowerPoint.This project will assist you in thinking critically. At the end of the
semester, you will have a tangible project connected to the learning

(you can use ONE credible internet sources).f) Your arguments should not be based primarily on internet or
magazine article sources. Avoid magazine sources altogether
unless there is an example of the research you are discussing.g) You must use citations whenever you refer to someone else’s
ideas even if it is not a direct quote and you should be
