Each student will choose and read a book (non–fiction, 150 text page–
minimum) related to a topic covered during this semester. The citation information will
be submitted for approval by the date of the second lecture exam (October 15).
Citations must follow APA style (see http://library.lsco.edu/help/basic–citing–apa.pdf for

email or printed. The report will summarize the book in the student’s own words (direct
quotes must be properly cited, and should be kept to a minimum), relate the book to
course content, and reflect upon the impact of the book upon you. As with any written
assignment you are expected to use the conventions of standard American English.
Grammar and Spelling, therefore, will be assessed as well as the content of the report.
The report must be typed, double–spaced, using Times Roman 12 font size and margins
not exceeding 1.00”. Text size is 3 pages minimum. Maximum score on the paper will
decrease 10% every calendar day past the due date.
