Exploratory Paper, this type of essay will ask you to identify 3 different prospectives on an issue and explain these prospectives through an analysis of the rhetorical situation, so you wont be arguing anything in this paper. This will be a 4-6 exploritory paper. You need to use a variety of resources: Books, articules, and internet resources. So use at least 3 to 4 sources.
Exploratory Paper organization
1. Writ your issue in a complete sentence, Explain it and include the information that provides background and makes the issue interesting to your readers.
2. Explain the elements to the rhetorical situation. Describe the exigence or context for your issue, including what happen to make people interested in it. Identify the individuals or groups of people interested in this issue with a brief introductionto their position. Mention some of the constraints of these groups. For example what do they think, value, and believe.
3. Describe three different positions on your issue, state who holds them and give some of their reasons for holding them.
4. Explain your personal interest in the issue and the position you favor.
Your outline should guide you from one position to the next. Gather your noted and begin filling in the blanks. Make sure you refer to your sources and you intergrate the writers’ views smoothly into your own writing.
