1) The phenomenon of informality and slums in the developing world is not a new one and is not likely to change in the near future. Society, economic forces, politics and even natural phenomena have a part in the creation and continuation of slums in the world. Answer all of the following questions in ONE cohesive original ACADEMIC essay using a minimum of 5 class readings (Week 2 to Week 6). This is not based on personal opinions but class content and academic sources.

Create a doc or docx file. Times New Roman Font, Size 12, SINGLE SPACE. 1 Inch margins.
Identify the Topic you chose to answer, name, date and class in a separate title page.
No abstract, index, pictures or graphs allowed.
The final product should be one essay, the ideas should flow from paragraph to paragraph. It does not have sub-sections.
No lengthy introductions, you can start your essay with a simple statement of about 50 words maximum and then go straight for the answers for the questions.
No separate conclusions or closing statements needed, these tend to be redundant.
THIS IS NOT AN OPINION ESSAY so use paraphrasing of class readings and support this paraphrasing with APA in text citations, check the APA guides provided on the top folder in the course modules.
Example: Citing in text means to paraphrase and credit your sources (Brown, 2012).
NO “direct quotes”, paraphrase and reference your source in APA in text citations. All your text must be ORIGINAL.
You can review your ideas from past DBs but you CANNOT use the same text. This would be self plagiarism, you cannot submit a written assignment twice. The exam would be an automatic 0.
Include Reference list at the end, in APA style and alphabetical order.

You can either sign the form digitally (using Acrobat Reader or Adobe PDF sign tool/ you can also insert a picture of your signature using the word file) or physically by submitting a scan or picture scan of the signed form. Only these versions are accepted. Failure to submit the e-signed pledge is penalized equally as not submitting the assignment. The exam will not be graded.
Late policy: -10 points the exam grade by the deadline and additional -10 points will accumulate for each week after the deadline. That is a total of -20 points after the first week! After 3 weeks (- 40 points) the assignment is automatically a 0.
