“the representation of “Snow-White” in “Betty Boop” in view of Andrea Dworkin’s critique of fairy tale heroines”

Topic:

“the representation of “Snow-White” in “Betty Boop” in view
of Andrea Dworkin’s critique of fairy tale heroines”

Thesis Statement

You must construct your own thesis; your thesis is your
statement of  position in support of
which you will write your essay; possible positions with respect to this topic
are:

            Andrea
Dworkin’s views regarding fairy tale heroines apply to both “Betty Boop Snow
White” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

            Andrea
Dworkin’s views regarding fairy tales do not apply to “Betty Boop Snow White,”
or “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

            Andrea
Dworkin’s views regarding fairy tales apply partly to “Betty Boop Snow White,” and
partly, to “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

            Andrea
Dworkin’s views apply to one but not the other – (pick your titles as
appropriate).

Do not refer to yourself in your essay by statements bearing
such terms as “I think, or I believe” and so on; it is understood that the
essay expresses your opinion as you are its writer. Your view is understood to
exist within your choice of thesis statement, your choice of examples, and your
angle of vision in presentation of your examples. You are presenting your
“opinion” throughout with the aim of presenting a good enough discussion as to
make your reader consider that your perspective is engaging, interesting, a
perspective to be taken seriously.

Essay Structure:

1st Paragraph

1-introduce Andrea Dworkin as a critic who has written on
fairy tales, name the work in which this critique appears, and make known the basic
direction of her argument

2-introduce the versions of Snow-White by naming the
creators of the versions, Grimm Brothers, and Fleischer Brothers, Disney with
dates.

3-present your thesis statement

2nd Paragraph

provide a very brief summary of the full scope of the Grimm
version of the story from beginning to end.
This paragraph should not be overly long as your essay is not dedicated
to summarizing but to argument. Four sentences is sufficient for this section.

3rd Paragraph

present a detailed description of Dworkin’s view of fairy
tale heroines, providing at least three points from her argument: a, b, c, d,
for example the protagonists’ beauty, innocence, victimization, helplessness

Subsequent Paragraphs:

make the comparison between the cartoon protagonist
(Disney’s Snow White) and the points you have identified from Dworkin; each
point is analyzed in one paragraph;

4th Paragraph
(comparison of Dworkin’s point a, with protagonist)

5th Paragraph (comparison of Dworkin’s point b,  with protagonist)

6th Paragraph (comparison of Dworkin’s point c,  with protagonist)

make the comparison between the cartoon protagonist (Betty
Boop Snow White) and the points you have identified from Dworkin (cartoon 2)

7th
Paragraph  (comparison of
Dworkin’s point a,  with protagonist)

8th
Paragraph (comparison of Dworkin’s point b, with protagonist)

9th
Paragraph (comparison of Dworkin’s point c, with protagonist)

Conclusion:

Please write a very short conclusion, a sentence or two is
quite sufficient.  Do not revisit your
examples and proof in your conclusion; the form of recuperating the major
points of argument, at the end is for much longer pieces of writing.
