Here is the whole essay prompt. The short story I chose was “A Rose For Emily” and to use Marxist criticism. Please make the essay in MLA format, and it has to be at least 1000 words.
For the first essay, I’d like you to choose any ONE of the first five short stories we’ve read (or will have read by week seven) and apply any ONE of the first three critical theories we’ve covered to the story. (The Great Gatsby is NOT a short story.) You might consider building on some of the stuff you’ve written in journals or going another route that interests you more.
There’s no need to use any outside sources, but you must use your textbook as a secondary source, and obviously the story will be your primary source. These sources need to be cited and documented, but there is no need for a Works Cited page on this essay unless you bring in a source other than the Tyson text and the story you are analyzing. When documenting the stories, since they are either linked or scanned, just use the paragraph number instead of a page number.
