Overview of the paper
The importance of contemporary project management to
all types of organisations consistently grows and
develops. Organisations that appreciate the benefits and indeed power of
effective project management make significant investments in developing staff,
technology and training provision so as to enhance their project capacity and
capability. The project environment is, however, characterised also as one that
is unique, complex and exposed to high change. Within this environment project
managers face some real challenges, as they must use and apply the techniques
and approaches of project management; while also navigating this uncertain and
high change environment in order to address a client’s scope, objectives and
project priorities.
For this assessment, you
are asked to develop a report that explores the critical role that timely and
accurate communications have in project management. In this analysis you are
asked to consider the value of good communications within a project
environment, what types of tools, approaches or models can help in developing
communications quality, and the central role that communications has in helping
a project team respond to project changes.
Instructions and Guidance
Within your answer you are
asked to demonstrate your argument using both project management concepts and
real world examples. The expected structure for the report will be
·
Introduction: to the report, to project
management and to the structure of your answer.
·
Main body: this should
o Define communications in a
project context
o Position the value of
communications to project success
o Consider what formal PM
tools, frameworks or models are used to help establish and maintain effective
communications practices
o Evaluate how
communication’s practices, can help a project team in accommodating project
scope changes
·
Conclusion: this section should
develop one or more conclusion about project success and failure, focusing on
the role of the key concepts in this.
·
Reference List: strict adherence to
Harvard style is essential.
·
Appendices: these are to include
subsidiary / additional pages in support of information detailed within the
main text of the report. This section will be an important section of the
report; this is where all the supporting information and illustrations should
be used to support your position.
Note, you are asked to develop examples that support
the discussion, these should be examples of real world projects where we can
clearly see and argue a link between the experience and the concepts.
