This paper aims to study the rise of chronic diseases, specifically cardiovascular disease in rural communities in Canada due to spatial disparities and geographical isolation.

RESEARCH PAPER (example attached)

Based on your annotated bibliography, you will write a research paper to increase your understanding of the topic you selected.

the topic is: Rural communities in Canada tend to face a vast variety of health issues due to their lack of access to healthcare services. This paper aims to study the rise of chronic diseases, specifically cardiovascular disease in rural communities in Canada due to spatial disparities and geographical isolation.

In addition to using supporting sources to develop your argument you must also think critically about the topic and how it relates to the issues and concepts addressed in the course. Remember, this is a health geography course so your research paper must engage with the theories and research in this field. When you are writing your paper imagine that you are writing for someone who has no background in health geography. Therefore, make sure you define the terms and concepts that you use.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • To continue to develop the ability to conduct literature searches and determine the relevancy and credibility of sources
  • To critically evaluate different sources related to a single health geography issue
  • To develop the skill of writing a clear and concise research paper

  • Have seprate parahrphs for each theme and then wihtin those paragraphs discuss all the papers talking about that and thier diffrent views.
  1. Methodology
  • Clearly discuss the methodology and methods used in your field of research. Do the articles use qualitative or quantitative methods? Is there a particular approach the majority of studies use? Are there outliers? What are the reasons given for the use of certain methods? What are some of the benefits/drawbacks of certain methods?
  1. Course Relevance
  • Choose at least TWO course concepts/theories and discuss how they relate to your topic. This needs to be detailed and critical. Again, assume the reader is unfamiliar with health geography and define terms and concepts used. You can draw from the course readings to do so. Do not cite lecture materials.
