My assignment is to write an 8 page paper covering how social factors contribute to shaping a necrophiliac. I have written an introduction that I will copy and paste here for reference.
In today’s society, we have what one would consider established social norms. Whether these norms are spoken or unspoken, they do indeed exist. With the increase in knowledge and growth within society lately, behavior that is deemed socially deviant will never be accepted or the sentiment towards it changed. Necrophilia is a deviant behavior and “given that necrophilia is outside the realm of what often is considered normal, its drivers equally go beyond what can be ordinarily rationalised” (Mwandayi, 2023). By definition, necrophilia is having sexual desires or having sexual intercourse with a body post mortem.
Although necrophilia can be dated back to ancient times, it has always been taboo and remains an unspoken evil. The fact that this act involves a post mortem body gives society even more of a reason to completely avoid the subject. In earlier times society considered sex a sin, it was then quietly, and today it is a bit more socially acceptable within reason, it is not surprising that the two subjects go hand in hand. The media has played a significant role in pushing sex and sexual innuendos to the forefront of our everyday lives. However, with the same force the media has played there is an equal push from religion to not be as sexual. These factors and more play a role in setting the tone for deviant behavior. The deviance surrounding sex as both a social and cultural topic is what lays the foundation for necrophilia. This research paper will discuss how social factors build a necrophiliac and the complexities surrounding the subject.
