This database has been a bit finicky lately. Tips on making it work for you:
- Whenever you want to do a new search, refresh the main database page before checking new boxes.
- Expand your search if you don’t get anything the first time. For example, if you don’t get anything for “almonds”, then try checking for pesticides on a different product.
Step 2: Identify a pesticide from your favorite food. Incorporate the following into your 150-200 word post:
- Identify at least one (1) pesticide which is used on your favorite food. Using an authoritative source (i.e. US EPA, USDA, ADSTR), report the potential toxicity of the pesticide to wildlife, humans or the environment. This includes acute and chronic toxicity, if any has been tested. If there is little information on the pesticide, is it in a family of pesticides which has toxicity data? Please report any additional information.
- Research ways to reduce pesticide exposures such as the one you chose from consumers. Is there a proper way to wash your food to remove pesticides? Are there ways to remove parts of the food (i.e. the skin) to reduce exposures?
