Aim, Objectives and Rationale (5%) – You should set your research question; explain how you are going to achieve it and discuss why your research is needed and highlights the gaps in the topic.
Literature Review (15%) – By reviewing the literature, you should undertake a definition analysis of any key concepts and create an academic framework to address your topic. You should identify any clear gaps in the existing literature to jusify your aim/question.
Methodology (15%) – Using the given template, you should explain the methods you have used to conduct your literature review (secondary methods), how you chose your specific case study, and how you obtained and reviewed the data you needed to directly address your research question/aim (secondary data – in some cases, you may consider primary research methods, but seek approval from your lecturer). Justify all decisions taken regarding your chosen research methods and information sources for your case study.
Analysis and Findings (30%) – The academic framework (from the Literature Review) should inform the structure of this section. Critically review your findings by cross-referencing the data against trends and the key studies contained in your literature review. Ensure your discussion here is linked to addressing your research aim. Explain the significance of your findings to your case study.
Conclusions (10%) – The conclusions should focus on synthesising (or bringing all your key points together) to finally answer your research aim/question. Overall, review the implications of your study on your case study and the wider sector. For some projects, you may choose to propose a solution/better practice to address a ‘gap’ within the case study.
Project Reflection (10%) – This should reflect on your research project process, schedule, and outputs. In addition, reflect on your project’s strengths and what you have learned during the module.
Presentation and References (10%) Overall this work should be presented in a professional manner, written clearly with appropriate grammar and terminology, supported with a quality, range, and extensiveness of references across different sources. The currency of the data (how recent is the data) and the triangulation of references (cross-referencing data to offer credible and fully justified points) are critical.
