The report should include:Micro-scale elements to include
Ø Country – what aspects of Country can be discerned, and in what ways, within this study area? How are they accessible to the senses?
Ø Fine-grained built form analysis of an area that includes the ‘path of focus’ covering building types, uses/activities, interfaces, signage, identities, etc
Ø Public life (or lack of it), and how the morphology provides affordances that enables or constrain animal and human activities
Ø ‘Senses of Place’ – what does it feel like to be there, at different times of the day, and how can these different senses of the place be communicated using a combination of words, sounds, images? What contribution does the ground (topography), materiality (what’s it made of?), light, wind, views, etc make to the senses of the place? What connections does the place afford with the realms of the tangible and intangible, with other times and places, what memories and hopes does it conjure, for you, and, perhaps, for its users and inhabitants?
Ø How does urban morphology constrain and enable different types and scales of activity space? What difference does urban morphology make to accessibility? How does the urban morphology enable and constrain different modes of movement and mobility? How are various modes of transport organised and who and what forms of mobility are prioritised and privileged? What range of activities are most accessible within the area studied?
Ø What impacts could current planning controls, strategies and urban design frameworks for future development of the case study area affect any of the above?
