Paper: Using psychology to help you study and the influence of sleep on study and 
exam performance
Directions:
  • Critically engage with your study and sleep habits
    • Utilize the PowerPoint and the textbook to answer the questions
    • Utilize Chapters 1 (how to be a better student section) and Chapter 2 (sleep section)
  • Answer all the questions, 1-8, in full sentences.
  • Papers should include 1) a clear introduction that presents the topic (no more than one paragraph); 2) body organized around the 8 questions and 3) conclusion 
  • that succinctly summarizes the paper (no more than one paragraph).

Questions:
  1. How do you study for exams now?
    1. Does it depend on the class that you are studying for?
    2. Does it depend on the type of exam (multiple choice, essay…)
    3. Does it depend on your interest in the class? If it is in your major area?
 
  1. Who taught you to study this way or where did you learn how to study this way?
 
 
  1. Do you believe that your current way of studying is effective? Why or why not?
 
 
  1. Use information only from the Myers textbook (for example, using the time management section in the beginning of the book) or the power point from class to write a paragraph (at least 4 sentences with at least 3 examples) on how you, with your habits and lifestyle, can specifically improve your study skills. 
 
  1. Review your sleep logs and write a few sentences about any patterns that you noticed (for example, patterns related to days when you slept the best and why, when were you the most fatigued, was there a difference between weekend and weekday sleep and more…). Identify a minimum of 2 patterns.
 
  1. According to your sleep logs, at what time of the day is your performance most efficient? 
 
    1. Why do you think you are more efficient at that time? 
 
  1. Using the textbook, what can you do to improve your sleep patterns? Name at least 3 things that are specific to your patterns of sleep.
 
  1. How do you think your sleep schedule impacts your study habits and performance on exams?
