INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the all five of the following sections according to the information in the outline.
I. TITLE:
Add on a separate page by itself the following information.
- Your name
- Panther ID#
- Course title
- Date
II. INTRODUCTION:
- Create a heading entitled “Introduction”. Start with an attention-grabbing statement.
- A short story, an example, a statistic or other statement that introduces your paper and makes immediately clear the nature and severity of the environmental problem you are addressing in your paper.
- Include any references used.
- Statement of why your choice of environmental problem and proposed solution is significant.
-
- Explain the potential impacts of the environmental problem, what would happen if we do not solve it, while also convincing the reader of the feasibility of your proposed solution.
- Identify the primary Planetary Boundary or UN Goal of Sustainability issues that your proposed approach will address.
- Identify how addressing the primary Planetary Boundary or UN Goal of Sustainability issues that your proposed approach targets can lead to multiple co-benefits that further address any of environmental or social threats.
- Include any references used.
3. The purpose of your paper
-
- State that you will demonstrate that the solution you are proposing can help resolve the environmental problem you have identified. This is your main argument.
- Explain how your proposed “solution” represents both an Interdisciplinary and Integrated approach (refer to your paper subject assignment).
- Include any references used.
III. LITERATURE REVIEW:
- Create a heading entitled “Literature Review”.
- Explain the methods you used in your review of the literature.
- Identify the database(s) used.
- Indicate the number of results you had for the search terms you used.
- Indicate how and why you ended up selecting the articles you did.
- Synthesis of the literature dealing with the PROBLEM(s) you address: Identify patterns in the types of main points made by published articles that have addressed the main problem(s) you are addressing.
- You should indicate how causes and consequences of the problem(s) were addressed differently or similarly by the different authors.
- Connect your problem to the UNSDG’s and PB’s.
- Include any references used.
- Synthesis of the literature dealing with the APPROACHES TO ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM(S) you are addressing: Identify patterns in the types of main points made by published articles regarding potential approaches to help solve the main problem you propose to address in your research paper.
- You should indicate how solutions to that problem were approached differently or similarly by the different authors and why.
- Include any references used.
- Analysis and Critique of the Literature: Should naturally lead to your thesis statement.
- What do you believe is missing, poorly, or narrowly documented in the literature dealing with the problem or in the types of solutions to the problem and how can your paper add to the literature to address these shortcomings.
IV. THESIS STATEMENT:
- Identify the specific Environmental Problem you will be addressing and the specific Solution to this problem you wish to argue in favor of. This is your MAIN ARGUMENT.
- Indicate the reasons why it is true that the solution you are proposing is a good/viable solution to the problem you are addressing.
- You can justify your decision to support your approach to addressing the problems by indicating the approach has been tried and shows merit (building upon previous research), or by indicating that it has not yet been tried despite showing merit (creating new knowledge).
V. REFERENCES:
- Minimum of 10 references using peer reviewed publications. Written using in-text citations and bibliography in standardized bibliographic format. References can be in footnote or endnote format.
