Each team member is expected to search for the best available evidence and to critically appraise the literature sources identified. Each student will individually submit their keywords, search grid, and a table of ten sources to the team room in Brightspace as well as submitting them here for grading. These will be used to collaborate and synthesize the best available evidence for the group assignment due in Week 2.
I have included and exemplar here from a previous section.
Also, don’t forget the resources you have at your disposal.
- Your Hopp & Rittenmeyer test is basically a step by step “how-to” guide for evidence based practice
- Your librarian is an invaluable resource when it comes to searching literature
- The library guide in this course is also a great resource
- Dig out your notes from your previous courses where you have done these sort of searches. (research, ethics, health promotion etc.) this is not your first time doing a literature search. You know how to do this, you just need to think it through 😉
- Use the databases you have used for those other assignments. Remember that “Google Scholar” is not technically a database. It is sometimes a nice place to start, and it can be one of a few databases you use, but it can never be the only one. (honestly, when I see that someone has used only Google Scholar, I know that they have not found the best available evidence)
