Creating an annotated bibliography is an important step and a helpful tool for any Teacher-Researcher. Collecting and annotating articles on the theme of Early Childhood Education Professionals in Diverse 21st Century Schools will be valuable for you in two ways. First, it will help you in preparation for your upcoming assignments in this course (especially the Signature Assignment), because you can utilize the resources you collect. Second, it will help you in your role of providing up-to-date information to colleagues in your role as a Teacher-Leader in ECE.
Using the NCU library, search for scholarly articles from academic journals and books published within the past five years. Compile an Annotated Bibliography by listing and summarizing 10 scholarly articles one by one. At the end of your summary for each article, explain briefly how each article relates to the theme of Early Childhood Education Professionals in Diverse 21st Century Schools.
Each APA style citation should be followed by a 1-2 paragraph summary for the cited article. Your Annotated Bibliography should focus on issues that are relevant to ECE professionals in today’s diverse schools but can take any direction that you specifically are passionate about within that general topic.
Topics and keywords for your library search may include but are not limited to, the following: early childhood, education, preschool, kindergarten, primary grades, diversity, socioeconomic, families, caregivers, parents, equity, inclusion.
Be sure to include the following aspects:
- Basic tenets of the field of early childhood education as they relate to 21st century ECE.
- Strategies and materials that infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout early childhood education programs.
- The role of parents, caregivers, and communities in early childhood education.
Length: 4-6 pages in addition to title and references pages
References: Include a minimum of 10 scholarly resources.
The completed assignment should address all of the assignment requirements, exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course. The writing should integrate scholarly resources, reflect academic expectations and current APA standards, and adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.
