Assess micronutrients needed for optimal bone health in relation to diet and activity levels building on data collected in all weeks to date. Analyze your dietary inputs in respect to the micronutrients involved in the maintenance of optimal immunological health:
- Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Selenium, and Zinc focused on Immune Health
Instructions: Continue using the tracking app you selected, extending your case study data collection by keeping a record of your food and beverage intake for three or more nonconsecutive days this week. Compare your intake to the USDA Food Patterns for the amounts of foods in different food groups with a focus on:
- Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Selenium, and Zinc focused on Immune Health
Compare these foods to the nutrient standards recommended in the DRIs for recommended intakes of vitamins, and minerals. These DRIs are found at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines which outlines Federal Dietary guidelines.
Think of this as a 5 paragraph essay, in APA 7 with multiple references and in-text citations each week. Also include your cronometer reports and copies of your food labels for me to see. Analyze your data and reflect on the results of this work to respond to the following journal prompts:
- Compare the results of your food pattern analysis with the results of your nutrient analysis. Note areas of high or low intakes of particular foods with an abundance of certain nutrients in those foods. Would using the Dietary Guidelines for Americans result in changes to improve your nutrient intake?
- Discuss how closely your diet compares with DRIs for each nutrient.
- Consider the packaging claims found on three of the foods you commonly eat to determine the category these claims fall under: nutrient content, health, or structure and function. How do these claims relate to your own health needs?
- What ideas do you have about devising a plan for personal improvement?
