Week 3: Research Outline & Part One of Final Research Project, Total Rewards Plan
This week we will begin to focus on our final research project (Due in Week 7) by creating an outline of your initial research for your organization’s Total Rewards Plan.
You are the HR Director of an organization of your choice and have been tasked with creating a proposal for a Total Rewards Plan. The Total Rewards Plan is an effective strategy to enable the organization to improve business performance, attract and retain the best talent, maximizing employee & organizational output, while achieving the desired results through an engaged and satisfied workforce.
PART ONE REQUIREMENTS (Due in Week 3):
For your Research Outline and Part One, students will begin by:
- Choosing an organization
- Provide a detailed overview of the organization’s, vision, mission & values, strategic priorities
- Prepare an outline of the remaining topics to include the key elements required for your final submission (SEE BELOW)
- Your outline should also include a sentence or two (with citations) regarding content and direction in each section.
- Reference page (minimum of 4 required)
PART ONE ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS (Due in Week 3): Research Outline & Part One should be in APA 7th edition format, include a cover page, and one or two pages of double-spaced content.
REQUIREMENTS FOR FINAL SUBMISSION (Due in Week 7):
Your research paper must include the following
- An overview of the organization, vision, mission & values, strategic priorities
- A proposal that addresses the five components of total rewards:
- Compensation
- Benefits
- Employee Well-Being & Work-Life Balance
- Performance Recognition
- Employee Development
- Explain the primary focus of each reward – recruitment to attract top talent (new hires) or employee retention, or both?
- A description of how each reward aligns with the vision, mission & values, strategic priorities of the organization
- How will you communicate total rewards to employees (new hires and existing employees)?
- Conclusion
- Reference Page (minimum of 4 required)
Your outline should also include a sentence or two (include citations) regarding content and direction for each section.
This outline will guide you in formatting the layout for your own research providing students a clear direction for your work. A strong outline eliminates the inconsistency along with lacking proper substance in the final paper. Be sure to include citations within your outline to further support your writing.
