You will write a research paper that critically analyzes a HEALTH ISSUE facing INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES and present its key points to your classmates.
As the focus of the course is to explore the larger healthcare system in which you will be practicing, the topic of your paper must focus on a health issue that is prevalent today. Your topic is NOT to focus on a specific rehabilitation protocol for a physical therapist to use in practice (you will have an opportunity to explore these concepts in future skills courses).
The body of the paper is to be approximately 5 pages in length. This is a research paper, not an opinion paper or creative writing piece. This means that you will use articles from peer-reviewed journals (at least 8) to develop and support your key points. It is acceptable to also use some other scholarly and consumer sources. You are expected to show that you can find, interpret, and synthesize information and present that information in an organized, concise academic format.
