when you witnessed someone practicing caring creatively and the art of nursing or not practicing caring and the art of nursing

Write a story (2 pages) to describe a time when you witnessed someone practicing caring creatively and the art of nursing or not practicing caring and the art of nursing.  Try to tell the story in as much detail as possible so that as you read it to us we can see the situation. In other words, don’t explain or suggest why you did what you did—just tell us about what happened.

Your story can be a current one or from years past.  It can be a story of break down, when nothing went right, or one in which everything went right and made a positive difference.

Here are some phrases to think about that may help you to write a vivid description:

Describe the context of the situation (time of day, location, individuals involved)

Include as much dialogue as possible

What were your concerns at the time? What were the conflicts?  What were you thinking about as the situation unfolded?

What were you feeling during and after the incident?

Did anything take you by surprise during the incident?

After you have written the details of your story, on (page 3) of paper,

1. describe why this story is important to you,
2. what it means to you, and
3.  why this is an important story for nurses to hear.
