The assignment is a research paper for a history class. The topic that I chose to research and write about is Shark finning, which is the fishing of sharks for their fins, and most of the time, only the fins (the rest of the body is thrown away). I would like the focus of the paper to be the reasons and factors that drive the continued consumption and demand of shark fins as well as the factors that drive the continued supply (fishermen still shark finning) of shark fins. The focus of this should be of South East Asian countries, specifcally China, Indonesia, Papau New Guinea.
I have written and attahced my topic proposal, titled “HU 3900 Topic Proposal Revision” for the paper that explains some more. In that same file you will find an annoatted bibliography that has important and relavent information for writing the paper. The citations in the bibliography have quick descriptions of that informations theme that will be important for writing the paper. I have also attahced a copy of a rough outline of the research paper, titled “HU 3900 Shark Finning Outline”, that has ideas of topics and discussion points that should be in the paper. This outline is in an order that I believe would work well (but feel free to switch it around a bit if you think it would flow better with different points be dicussed at different times). But please cover the topics I have put down as much as possible. Much of the topics should have a few sources in the annoatted bibliography that correspond with them well. You might need more sources so feel free to get more and add on.
