Topic Question
Why is the teleological [chronological] structure of “The Story of an Hour” from point A to point Z important in telling the story of Mrs. Mallard as a person in the past, present, and in her future?
- Answer the topic questions and explain your thoughts without using “I” or “I think” or “I believe” too much if you can. Try to be on the outside looking at the question. Don’t put yourself into the discussion.
- Write an essay of 1000 words which has a minimum of 5 paragraphs [introduction, body, and conclusion] which contain at least 8-10 sentences per paragraph.
- Include a well-developed introduction with starts with some general information and ends in a thesis statement.
- Provide supporting examples from the story and perhaps some of your own pre-existing knowledge or experience with the issues which relate to the topic.
For in-text citations:
- If you choose to provide in-text citations for examples from the story to support your discussion, refer to the author’s name or the story’s title. Remember that if you mention the author’s name in your sentence, your in-text citation will be (“The Story”), but if you do not mention the author’s name in your sentence, your in-text citation will be (Chopin). [Note that the title of the story is abbreviated. This is an MLA convention.
- There are no page numbers because the articles are pdfs posted in Canvas without any page numbers, so do not add any page numbers.
