This assignment will require you to explore science in the news and develop a mini-essay related to the news article. The purpose of this assignment is to get you thinking about how the material covered in this course is important beyond the classroom.
Explanation of Assignment Grading:
This assignment will use a type of specifications grading where you can choose the amount of work you wish to put into this assignment and thus what grade you will receive. Below are the criteria for earning an A-D on the assignment. An F is given to anyone that does not meet the D requirements. You must meet the number of submissions at an acceptable value to get that grade. You will get the opportunity to resubmit two assignments that are “unacceptable”. You must select the bundle you want at the start.
For a D (65/100 points):
Student must read and develop a ½ page summary of the news article. Summary should be in your own words and cover the key topics and points of the article. Please Include an APA citation for the article below your summary. Students must complete 3 out of the 5 articles at an acceptable level and on-time.
For a C (75/100 points):
Students must complete 4 out of 5 article summaries as described in D AND provide a short paragraph that explains how the article connects to course content.
