The purpose of this project is to allow you to share what has been learned through diligent research about a particular diverse, oppressed and/or marginalized group.
- presentation must be 8-10 minutes in length.
- Presentations are expected to be of professional quality (as if you were presenting at a conference). I must be able to see you presenting. Use Zoom or any other technology that allows you to show your presentation material and you presenting it.
- Video links and Powerpoint documents must be saved and uploaded into Blackboard. You may use Youtube to upload your videos. Please also email a link to instructor to ensure that video is accessible. TEST YOU LINK BEFORE SENDING.
- Creative expression is encouraged to enhance the presentations.
- The presentations MUST include the following information:
- How you selected the population.
- A brief description of the population you researched, including size and diversity features.
- A report on the historical experience of this population, as a whole, and the historical relationship of this group to community in which they reside. Discuss the historical experiences of this group as relevant to social work practice.
- What steps have members of the majority culture taken to address overt or covert discrimination against this group? What approaches has the group historically taken to address oppression? In what ways have the group’s members advocated for themselves? Speak specifically to ADEI concepts here.
- Review interventions utilized with your identified population and apply these interventions on a micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice.
- A role-play, video, or other audio/visual to show how to utilize one or more of the discussion points listed above. During the role play apply interventions at the micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice.
- Provide a reference page of five (5) articles from peer reviewed journals.
