Title: Using Models and Real-Life Objects to Engage Basic 7 Students in Finishes and Finishing at Nankese Presby JHS
Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1 Background
The process of finishes and finishing in construction plays a crucial role in the final appearance and durability of structures. However, teaching this concept to Basic 7 students can be challenging as it involves complex technical details. To address this, the proposed research aims to explore the use of models and real-life objects to engage Basic 7 students in understanding finishes and finishing.
1.2 Problem Statement
Traditional teaching methods often struggle to effectively engage students in understanding finishes and finishing, leading to limited comprehension and interest in the subject. This research seeks to address this issue by introducing innovative teaching techniques that utilize models and real-life objects.
1.3 Research Objectives
– To assess the current level of understanding of finishes and finishing among Basic 7 students at Nankese Presby JHS.

– To develop a framework for integrating models and real-life objects into the teaching of finishes and finishing for Basic 7 students.
Chapter 2: Literature Review
This chapter will review existing literature on teaching methods for technical subjects, the use of models in education, and the impact of real-life objects on student engagement. It will also explore studies related to teaching finishes and finishing in construction education.
Chapter 3: Methodology
3.1 Research Design
This study will employ a mixed-methods approach, including both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Surveys, interviews, and classroom observations will be used to gather data on student understanding, engagement, and perceptions of using models and real-life objects.
3.2 Sample Selection
The sample will consist of Basic 7 students at Nankese Presby JHS who are currently studying finishes and finishing as part of their curriculum. A total of 100 students will be selected for participation in the study.

Surveys will be conducted to assess students’ current understanding of finishes and finishing. Classroom observations will be carried out to evaluate student engagement during lessons that incorporate models and real-life objects.
