This is the assignment I didn’t get a high grade on, and my professor wants me to rewrite it according to her instructions. The topic I have chosen is a healthy lifestyle and education.
Audience
Consider who would benefit from your unique perspective of how identity is shaped via higher education or the arts. What do you know about your audience’s attitudes toward higher education or your medium of choice, about their assumptions about you as a student, artist, or fan, about their perceptions of you as an individual? What do you want to show them about your unique identity and perspective?
Purpose
Illustrate for your reader your unique experiences and expectations of the higher education system or the arts as they shape your identity. Perhaps you may want to encourage discussion about how the institutions can change to better meet the needs of its students/artists/community members. Perhaps you may want to explore how students/artists can assert themselves as partners in their own education/media?
Question to consider :
- What are your goals in pursuing your degree or art form?
- What are your obstacles?
- What is your personal history with higher education or the artistic medium in question? (Are you the first in your family to attend college or play piano? Was college attendance or an exploration of architecture expected of you? etc.)
Consider framing your narrative through one or more of the following lenses: Gender, Sexuality, Race, Religion, Age, Language, Residency, other obligations (caring for family, supporting self or others, etc.)
