- Summarize your proposed topic in a short paragraph. Identify the research problem and/or subproblem(s) you would like to see addressed.
- Propose a measurable research question or hypothesis to address your chosen research problem/subproblem. At this point, if you have identified subproblems, simply select one to address (remember that each subproblem should be a researchable issue in its own right). Your proposed research question or hypothesis doesn’t have to be perfect at this point. In fact, the point of this assignment is to bounce your ideas off your peers for potential guidance to refine your proposed research question or hypothesis.
- Answer the four bulleted items on page 40 of the Leedy and Ormrod textbook that begin with describing whether you would choose a quantitative approach, a qualitative approach, or a mixed-methods approach. Remember that data can be qualitative or quantitative, so if you chose a qualitative approach, be sure to describe the qualitative data that you will collect. Note that if you decide you will do qualitative analysis, you should have a proposed research question. If you decide you will do quantitative analysis, you should propose a statistical hypothesis.
- Using the guidelines on deciding on the applicable approach in Chapter 4 and page 40 of the Leedy and Ormrod textbook, detail why you believe your choice is appropriate.
