You identified your leadership Strengths and Weaknesses in the SWOT Analysis Activity.

This week we introduced Goals Leadership Theory and leadership strategies SWOT Analysis and SMART Goal Setting. You identified your leadership Strengths and Weaknesses in the SWOT Analysis Activity. Then you utilized the SMART Goal Generator to identify how you plan on developing one of your leadership strengths or weaknesses.

Post 1: Please address the following in-depth:

  1. Discuss your findings from your SMART Goal in the discussion forum.
  2. Bazzel Baz describes heroic actions in the prevention of child trafficking in his video in the GMC Leadership Engagement Series and how he has made a difference.  How do you hope to make a difference as a leader in the world once you graduate from GMC?
  3. Why do you think that goals are important?  This topic can apply to your school, family, or work environment.  (Possible topics to consider: Discuss the importance of having written goals that are timely.  Talk about the difference between a goal and a plan, as well as the difference between a goal and a dream.  Remember to support your discussions with critical thinking and evidence and not strictly opinions.)

Posts 2 + 3: Respond to two classmates and/or the professor.  Your responses should be 100 words in length.  They should continue the conversation.  Statements like “good post” or “I agree” will not earn credit.  Also, restating what your peer wrote will not earn credit.  A manner to continue the conversation is to find an article and share what is of interest to you.  Think of your responses in terms of a contribution to a dialogue, not a writing exercise or a chat room.  Elaborate on a single idea and incorporate what you have learned from the weekly reading material and from your own real-world experiences.

Here’s why I want you to do it: This discussion activity requires you to reflect on the reading you have done this week and gives you a chance to summarize what you have learned and discuss key takeaways with your classmates and instructor.

Here’s how to do it: Refer to the textbook, weekly materials, and/or the GMC library when researching the topics for this Critical Thinking exercise. Remember to include a source (MLA formatting) with all initial posts to earn full credit.  Put your writing into your own words, do not copy directly from the source. If you incorporate external resources (http://gmcga.libguides.com/periodicals) in your posts be sure to cite (http://gmcga.libguides.com/citationmanagement/mla) them properly. Lastly, review how to paraphrase and quote resources before you begin posting (http://gmcga.libguides.com/c.php?g=458&p=996448). Please review the guidelines in the Course Syllabus to see how you will be graded. Your initial post should be made by Wednesday night at 11:55PM EST and you need to respond to two peers on two different days. Posts such as “I agree” or “Good job” will not be awarded any credit.
