You will write a comparative analysis essay of two short stories which are Harrison Bergeron and The Lottery)

This essay should be 4 pages in length, not including the Works Cited page. 

Some elements to consider including in your essay (you do NOT need to include all of these!):

·      plot structure analysis  Do you see similarities in the way the stories are structured?  Are the resolutions traditional?

·      character examination/development  Are the characters similar in how they are presented?  Do they develop similarly throughout the stories?

·      conflict identification  Are the conflict types similar?

·      interpretation of symbols and/or motifs  Are there similarities in the use of symbolism or motifs?  Do any symbols or motifs appear in both stories? 

·      theme  Does the author of each story express a similar message to the audience?

 

In terms of format:

·      your name, my name, your class section, and date should be in the upper left of your first page (before the title)

·      include the page number with your last name on each page in the upper right corner

·      use Times New Roman size 12 font (double-spaced)

·      include a centered title

·      indent each paragraph

·      use in-text citations (MLA style)

.   Each paragraph needs two in-text-citations to provide examples in the stories where the similarities are displayed 

·      include a Works Cited Page (MLA style)
