1. A description of the cultural practice (how it is carried out; when, in what manner).
2. The conceptual underpinnings (why is it carried out; what are the beliefs associated with
the practice and the expected outcomes).
3. A description of the mainstream approach (a brief summary of the theory, concept,
and/or idea associated with it).
4. A comparison between the cultural practice and the mainstream approach (how are
they the same?) and a contrast between them (how are they different?).
Please note that the goal of 4 (compare/contrast) is not just to list the relationship between the
ideas, but to explain the impact of those differences in terms of thought, emotions, or actions.
